Surrounded by high mountains which are normally snow-capped until late spring, the Atlas form a dramatic backdrop to the city’s deep red ochre walls. In many ways Marrakech is Morocco, a heady mix of the old and new, of colourful souks, historic homes, street traders and restaurants all housed within an ancient medina. The main highlight is the medina, a warren of alleyways and markets impossible to navigate, and Jemaa el Fna Square that comes to life after sunset with its musicians, dancers, storytellers, acrobats, snake charmers, healers and food-stalls. Also visit the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque, the carved tombs of the Saadian dynasty, the gardens and courtyards of the Bahia Palace and the lavish 16th century El Badi Palace. We have over 35 years experience in planning tailor-made holidays and tours to Morocco.
