Holidays to Oman

A land of mountains and sandscapes, endless beaches and lush wadis, Oman is one of the most beautiful and untouched parts of the Arabian Peninsula.

Little visited but immensely rewarding, this is authentic Arabia where forts and castles dominate the interior and care has been taken to maintain indigenous customs, local dress and Omani architectural styles. Stable with an international outlook, Oman is often described as the Middle-East’s best-kept secret. The old-world charm of Oman's white-washed capital Muscat is a particular highlight. Stretching along the coast against the backdrop of the Hajar Mountains, Muscat’s skyline is dominated by the colossal Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, an ornate landmark whose beauty lies within.

Stay in a luxurious desert camp in the heart of the shifting dunes of the Wahiba Sands where you can experience authentic Bedouin hospitality spending a night underneath the starry sky. Home to some of the country’s most impressive forts and castles, the Al Hajar Mountains is an area of magnificent natural beauty and mighty mountain peaks which are also home to the historic fortified cities of Nizwa, Bahla and Jabrin. Salalah, Oman’s southernmost city, has a subtropical feel, and to the north the Musandam Peninsula is a majestic region of small villages, dramatic coastal roads and turquoise sea where you can relax on a traditional dhow boat and snorkel in secluded coves. As an Oman specialist, our knowledge and experience allow us to create unique Oman tours that are tailored exactly to your requirements.

Places to visit in Oman

Oman is authentic Arabia and the perfect destination for those seeking winter sun, first-class hotels, a beautiful coast and interesting history. Surrounded by mountain, desert and sea, Muscat is Oman’s atmospheric capital city. Admire the low-rise white-washed architecture, visit the Grand Mosque and Al Jalali Fort. Observe turtle migrations along many of Oman’s beaches including Ras Al Hadd and Ras Al Jinz or travel inland to explore Nizwa’s 17th century fort and spice souks. This is the gateway to the towering peaks of the Jebel Akhdar Mountains which provide some of the best views in the region.

Alternatively visit the nomadic Bedouins and camp under the desert stars in the ever-changing desert landscape of Wahiba Sands or travel south to Salalah – a centre for the historic trade in incense. The northerly exclave of Musandam is the location of Oman’s finest beaches.
